Avaya owns Nortel..What now?
So what does this mean to you, the business partner? In my mind, this is good news because there is an amount of uncertainty that has been removed — finally a vague direction. The flip side to this is that there is still a lot of uncertainty as to what this really means to the end user. Some of these questions include:
-What does the new product road map look like for Nortel customers?
-How do Nortel customers continue to get the most out of their investment?
-Which Nortel products will survive? Which won’t?
-And so on..
Here’s the silver lining: Where there is confusion and uncertainty, there is opportunity. Now is the time for Avaya partners to come up with a good story and also start to get their arms around these questions. Why not become the go to expert that can answer these critical questions? The partner that explains to Nortel customers how Aura will help them preserve their investment…What if you are that partner that can explain to Nortel customers how to speak Avaya as a Second Language (if your native language is Nortel). I just checked godaddy to see if www.norteltoavaya.com is available and to my dismay, it is..anyone?
EPILOGUE — 9/16/2009 — looks like someone took my suggestion on the URL. Kudos to that partner for seizing the opportunity
